Delaware Lottery Chooses Provider For Regulated Online Games

Eleven months after the Delaware local government passed the Delaware Gaming Competitiveness Act the Delaware Lottery has chosen a group of leading service providers to run the state’s first legal online gambling offering.

Scientific Games, 888 Holdings and Williams Interactive LLC will join together to create a full array of operational services for the lottery, including player management back-office as well as casino, poker and video lottery games.

The lottery will be the only body allowed to offer players online gambling services in Delaware.

Legal leader

Delaware, which is a leader in legal gaming in the US As well as a lottery the state also offers three land-based casinos. It became the first U.S. state to implement comprehensive intrastate in June 2012.

Since then New Jersey and Nevada have followed on, and earlier this month Nevada became the first to launch an online gaming operation with Ultimate Poker.

The group of companies beat off stiff competition to win a tender for the right to provide the services.

A spokesman for the group said it will bring the best of each of the companies to combine to offer the best solution for both the lottery and the citizens of Delaware.

“This offering combines 888's decade-long experience at the forefront of the online gaming industry with Scientific Games' proven ability to provide added value, turnkey solutions to government-sponsored (B2G) and commercial (B2B) gaming operators, and Williams Interactive's premium iGaming products and services,” the spokesman said in a press release.
